Między trwaniem a zanikaniem · Bone

My master’s collection is about transience and how to translate it into the language of jewellery, using materials that are directly tied to that process.

In the first part of my diploma I work with animal bones obtained from the Museum of Natural History in Łódź. I focus on bringing out the natural textures of the bone, combining pieces into different compositions and subtly accenting them with brass.

The collection, and the bones it is made from, are a symbol of transience. By turning them into jewellery I wanted to give them a new context – to let the viewer look at passing time with more calm and acceptance. The collection is not meant to frighten, but to invite reflection on our place in nature and on the constant change we are all part of.
